Sustainability Committee

The Sustainability Committee, which comprises our CEO, Mr Tan Yong Nang, and our CFO, Mr. Kevin Monteiro, was established in 2018 to strengthen our commitment and guide the implementation of best practices in sustainability within the Group.

The Sustainability Committee advises and assists the Board of Directors in the strategic decision-making process on sustainability matters and long-term planning, and also facilitates sustainability initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

Establish and propose sustainable development policy and direction to the Board of Directors for approval
Develop sustainability strategies with timeframes
Evaluate and assess the results of the implementation of the sustainability strategy, give advice for its development and report to the Board of Directors at least once a year
Approve the Sustainability Report annually
Appoint the Sustainability Sub-Committees, as appropriate, for the implementation of the sustainability strategy within the operational divisions
Review and approve KPIs and SPTs of sustainability-linked transactions

To achieve greater integration of sustainability with the business, additional cross-functional committees have been established:

Sustainability Coordinating Sub-Committee

A cross-functional body established to roll-out the Sustainability Pillars, which guide the implementation of best practices in sustainability, document our progress and identify key areas for further development.

This Sub-Committee comprises representatives of Investor Relations, Human Resources and Finance functions.

Sustainability Sub-Committee

This sub-committee comprises representatives from our operations across countries and disciplines. The members are our Sustainability Champions who encourage the adoption of a sustainability mindset throughout Japfa.

Together with the members of the various sub-committees, we can count on our enthusiastic Sustainability Champions across the Group, who seek to lead the change towards the adoption of a sustainability mindset and initiatives in their areas of responsibility.
